FARIBAULT, Minn. – Trailing Lynn Anderson by two after 16 holes, Betsy Aldrich won the final two holes and prevailed in a four-hole playoff to win the 2018 Minnesota Golf Association Women’s Senior Amateur Match Play Championship at Faribault Golf Club.

Aldrich fell behind early with a pair of bogeys before chipping away at Anderson’s lead by winning the third hole with a par. After Aldrich drew even at the fifth, Anderson came back with a birdie at the sixth to regain a slim advantage through nine holes.

Winning the 11th with a par, Aldrich again would square the match, but would take a bogey at the 12th to give Anderson the lead once more.

A birdie at the par-4 16th put Anderson firmly in control of the match, but Anderson would take bogey on each of the final two holes and the two would finish regulation all square.

Both Aldrich and Anderson carded three consecutive pars to begin the playoff before Anderson took a bogey at the fourth as Aldrich clinched the match.

With Wednesday’s loss, Anderson finishes as runner-up for the second consecutive year, falling to Leigh Klasse, 4 and 3, during the championship last year at Bent Creek Golf Club.
