BRAINERD, Minn. – Stringing four birdies to open the championship match Friday, Luke Alexander held on to defeat Jacob Pedersen at the 2017 Minnesota Junior PGA Match Play Championship at Cragun’s Dutch Legacy Course.

Alexander’s lead was trimmed following a bogey at the fifth, but he would regain a 4-up lead after a bogey by Pedersen at the eighth. Pedersen carded his second birdie of the match at the par-4 10th, but gave away the 14th hole with a double-bogey before Alexander closed out the championship on the ensuing hole to secure the victory, 4 and 3.

Seeded seventh to begin the championship Wednesday, the Rochester, Minn., native cruised through his first two matches before edging Noah Weichert, 2 and 1, during the Round of 16. Alexander then defeated Levi Hauser, 4 and 3, during the quarterfinals before downing Brady Arnett, 3 and 1, to advance to the final match.
