BECKER, Minn. – Taking a seven-stroke lead following the opening round Tuesday, the BOLD High School girls golf team took one step closer to repeating as Minnesota State High School Class A team champions with a round of 347 at Pebble Creek Golf Club.
Sophomore Lanie Mages led the way for the Warriors Tuesday, posting an 8-over par 80 to finish the opening day in seventh place, while fellow sophomores Makayla Snow and Ashley Trongard contributed with rounds of 85 and 86, respectively.
BOLD opens Wednesday’s final round seven shots better than Lac Qui Parle Valley and 11 shots better than 2017 runner-up Fillmore Central.
In the individual competition, Park Christian High School’s Emily Doeden fired a 4-over par 76 to earn a share of the lead with Lac Qui Parle Valley’s Rachel Halvorson. Fillmore Central senior Grace Miller sits two shots off the lead in a tie for third place along with Murray County Central’s Abby Hamman.
The 2018 MSHSL Girls Class A Golf Tournament concludes Wednesday with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Pebble Creek Golf Club.
