Behind Laorr and Laguna, Gopher Women Finish 11th at Web.com Intercollegiate

  PONTE VEDRA, Fla. – With just two tournaments remaining on the 2014-15 schedule, the University of Minnesota women’s golf team carded a team score of 305 on the final day of the 2015 Web.com Intercollegiate Tuesday to finish tied for 11th at 898 at Marsh Landing Country Club.

The Gophers finished the opening day of competition in eighth place but dropped three spots after carding a 17-over par 305 during the final round Tuesday.

Senior Anna Laorr, Eden Prairie, Minn., led the Gophers once again as Laorr carded three consecutive rounds of 1-over par 73 to finish tied for 22nd at 3-over par 219.

Seeing her first tournament action since October, senior Sarinee Thitiratanakorn opened the tournament with rounds of 73 and 74, respectively, before firing a 3-over par 75 during the final round Tuesday, finishing tied for 32nd at 222.

Fellow senior Carmen Laguna finished tied for 48th at 225 after carding a 3-over par 75 during the final round Tuesday.

The University of Miami carded an even par 288 during the final round to win the team competition at 13-under par 851, five strokes better than Texas Tech University (856).

Miami’s Delfina Acosta held on to her second-round lead to earn medalist honors as she carded a 1-under par 71 Tuesday, finishing four shots better than Florida State University’s Matilda Castren, who finished second at 6-under par 210.

The Gopher women travel to Northern California April 13-14 to compete in the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort in Napa, Calif.
