Berry Misses Cut at First U.S. Senior Open

  SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Posting a 2-under par 70 at Prestwick Golf Club in late May, Minnesota Golf Hall of Famer Don Berry qualified for his first U.S. Senior Open.
 
During his opening round Thursday at Warren Golf Course on the historic campus of the University Notre Dame, Berry carded eight bogeys to finish the opening round at 8-over par 78.
 
Berry bounced back with a birdie and two bogeys during his second round Friday, shooting 1-over 71, but would miss the cut by eight shots.
 
Wisconsin’s Steve Stricker and David Toms both fired rounds of 8-under par 62 Thursday to lead after the opening round of action.
