Burnham and Neisen Cruise During Final Round of Minnesota Women's State Four-Ball

  ALEXANDRIA, Minn. – Entering the final round of the 2015 Minnesota Women’s State Four-Ball Championship with a two-stroke lead, the team of Sarah Burnham and Kenzie Neisen carded an 8-under par 64 Thursday to finish the tournament at 131, winning by 11 strokes at Alexandria Golf Club.

Lauren Wise and Grace Todora shot a final-round 3-under par 69 to finish in a tie second place with Jenna Janu and Alexis Guggisberg at 142.

The team of Emma Groom and Jennifer Pederson finished in a tie for fourth place at 1-under par 143 along with the team of Leigh Klasse and Betsy Aldrich, as well as the pairing of Emily Israelson and Sierra Langlie.

It’s the second consecutive title for Burnham, who won the event with Lexi Bollant a year ago in a playoff over Neisen and her older sister, Steffi.

After carding a 5-under par 67 to open the championship Wednesday, Burnham and Neisen got off to another fast start Thursday with a birdie at the par-4 second hole before making bogey at the fourth.

The duo would card four consecutive birdies to quickly jump to 4-under heading to the final nine holes. Burnham and Neisen added another four birdies to the scorecard on the back nine and finished the round at 64, 11 strokes better than the field at 131.

Wise and Todora fired a 1-over par 73 to begin the tournament Wednesday and put together a solid final round to finish in a tie for second at 142.

The pair got off to a rough start with a bogey at No. 1, but came back with four birdies to finish the opening nine at 3-under par 33.

Wise and Todora shot even par over the final nine hole with a birdie and a bogey to card a 3-under par 69.

Janu and Guggisberg recorded three birdies with three bogeys during the first round Wednesday, but made the turn at 1-under par during the final round Thursday.

With two more birdies with one bogey over the final nine holes, Janu and Guggisberg fired at 70 to finish the tournament at 2-under 142.
