JORDAN, Minn. – Sam Foust’s birdie on the final hole Wednesday at Ridges at Sand Creek gave the Edina boys golf team a one-stroke victory over Wayzata to claim the Lake Conference Championship.
The Hornets fired a team score of 293 to edge the Trojans by a single stroke as Wayzata finished second at 294, while Minnetonka finished third, 11 shots off the lead at 304.
Edina’s Kobi Boe fired a 1-under par 71 to lead the Hornets and claimed medalist honors in the process. Foust finished his day at even par 72, while Drew Engelking and Brian Lee both carded 3-over par 75 to help Edina’s cause.
Wayzata was led by senior Will Holmgren, who fired an even par 72 to finish tied for second, while teammate Ben Frazzini finished tied for fourth at 1-over par 73.
The Edina girls fired a team score of 316 to cruise to a 29-stroke victory over Minnetonka, who finished second at 335.
The Skippers’ Katie McMillan earned medalist honors Wednesday as she fired a 2-over par 74, but Edina proved to be too much as five of the six Hornets golfers finished inside the top-10.
Hannah Hankinson led the way for Edina as she finished second overall, shooting 3-over par 75, while Grace Kellar finished tied for third at 79.
