Gopher Women Place 11th at The Gold Rush in California

  SEAL BEACH, Calif. – Posting its best round of the week Tuesday, the University of Minnesota women’s golf team fired a team total of 905 to jump two places and finish tied for 11th at the 2019 Golf Rush tournament at Old Ranch Country Club.
 
San Jose State University earned a wire-to-wire win, posting a team score of 295 on the final day to edge the University of Georgia by three strokes. San Jose State was led by Abegail Arevaldo and Natasha Andrea Oon, who each earned a share of medalist honors by shooting 2-under par 214.
 
The Gophers were led by sophomore Kate Lillie, who notched a top-25 finish by carding a final-round 71 to wrap up the tournament tied for 24th at 8-over par 224. Senior Muyu Wu also fired a 71 during Tuesday’s final round to finish in a tie for 30th place at 225.
 
The Gopher women travel to Fairfax, Calif., March 17-19 to compete at the Meadow Club Women’s Intercollegiate.
 
 
COLLEGE GOLF NOTES
Bradley University junior and former New Prague prep standout Taylor Ledwein was named Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for the week of Feb. 20. Ledwein led the Braves at the Oconee Invitational, finishing tied for 37th at 231, which was helped by an opening-round 72.
