Howk and Sarkar Finish on Top at Twin Cities Junior Championship

  BLAINE, Minn. – Posting a 4-over par 76 Tuesday, Austin Howk captured a three-stroke victory in wet and windy conditions to claim the 2018 Twin Cities Junior Championship at Victory Links Golf Course. 
 
Howk, from Interlachen Country Club, began the final nine holes Tuesday in third place, but rallied to shoot even par on the inward nine to post a 76, three shots better than fellow Edina golfer Walker Schwappachs. It’s the first victory for Howk since winning a 2017 Minnesota Junior PGA event at Madden’s Resort.
 
Kyle Berg carded a round of 85 Tuesday to finish in third place in the Boys’ 16-18 Division.
 
Aayushi Sarkar, who recently placed second individually at the Class AAA tournament on June 13, fired a round of 2-over par 74 to claim the Girls’ 16-18 Division crown, five shots better than Chanhassen’s Courtney Wedin, who placed second with a 79.
 
Myles Jarrett earned a victory in the Boys’ 13-15 Division by shooting 9-over par 81, while Wedin’s teammate Madi Hicks claimed the trophy for the girls, shooting an 80.
 
Sarkar’s younger brother, Aarush, finished on top of the Boys’ 12 and Under Division by posting a nine-hole round of 47 and Ellie McCabe, from Lanesboro Golf Club, earned a victory in the girls’ division.
