Myhre, Lawson Are Co-Medalists with 136's at Pine to Palm

DETROIT LAKES -- Noah Lawson, a reinstated amateur, and Nick Myhre, a soon-to-be senior at North Dakota State, matched 4-under-par 67's on Tuesday at Detroit Country Club and 69's on Wednesday. The resulting totals of 136 earned each of them a 50-percent share of medalist honors in qualifying at the 2017 Pine to Palm Golf Tournament.

Finishing third by himself at 137 (69-68) was Lucas Johnson, who graduated from Fargo Shanley High School this spring and will join Myhre on the NDSU golf team in a couple of weeks. Dax Wallat and Bill Carlson were another stroke back at 138, tied for fourth.  

Nine current or recently past University of Minnesota golfers were among the 64 players who qualified for match play in the Championship Division. The highest finisher among them was Grady Meyer. He tied for sixth with Bryant Buckellew and Erik Weiss at 139. Also making it into the match-play portion of the tournament was Thomas Strandemo, who won The Resorters over the weekend.  He tied for 20th and goes into match play as the No. 23 seed. He will face Robert Wagner (No. 42) on Thursday in the first round of matches.

Myhre, who won the North Dakota Golf Association Stroke Play Championship this summer, is the No. 1 seed, and he will face Dieter Zuehlke in his opening match. Zuehlke survived a playoff at 148 to get into the match-play portion of the tournament. 

Lawson  (No. 2) gets No. 63 Wyatt Blomseth, another playoff survivor, on Thursday.
