Nation's Top Team Arkansas Maintains Lead at ANNIKA Intercollegiate; Freshmen Leading Gopher Women

  EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – Extending its lead following Monday’s second round of the 2017 ANNIKA Intercollegiate Presented by 3M, the University of Arkansas will take a four-stroke lead over the University of Texas and Stanford University into Tuesday’s final round at Olympic Hills Golf Club.

The Razorbacks got a strong performance from its top three golfers for the second consecutive round as Dylan Kim led the way by shooting a 4-under par 68 Monday to finish 36 holes of play at 141 and into a tie for fifth with teammate Alana Uriell.

Defending individual medalist Maria Fassi carded a round of 2-under par 70 for the second straight round and will begin Tuesday’s final round in a tie for second place with University of California, Los Angeles’ Patty Tavatanakit, who posted a 3-under par 69 Monday.

Following a round of 70 during the opening round Sunday, Furman University’s Natalie Srinivasan jumped into sole possession of the lead after 36 holes Monday, shooting a 4-under par 68. The Paladin sophomore carded two birdies on her front nine and rolled in another pair of birdies on the back to pace the field at 6-under par 138 for the championship.

The host school from the University of Minnesota dropped one spot to 12th following the second round Monday, shooting a team score of 309. Gopher freshman Joanne Free posted the team’s best score of the second round with a 4-over par 76.

The final round of the 2017 ANNIKA Intercollegiate Presented by 3M is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Olympic Hills Golf Club.
