Neisen Advances to Match Play at U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links

DUPONT, Wash. – McKenzie Neisen fired a 3-under par 69 Tuesday at second round of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship to advance to the match play portion of the tournament Wednesday at the Home Course in DuPont, Wash.

Neisen, New Prague, Minn., opened the championship Monday with a 1-over par 73, but came back with a 69 on the final day of qualifying to finish in a tie for 17th at 142.

Neisen got off to a spectacular start Tuesday by rolling in four birdies on her opening nine holes to quickly jump to 4-under on the round. She added another birdie with two bogeys over the last nine holes to finish the day at 69.

Brenna Lervick, Chanhassen, Minn., carded a 2-over par 74 during the opening round Monday and fired a 3-over par 75 to finish at 149 to miss the cut for match play by a single stroke.

Taylor Ledwein, New Prague, Minn., shot a 3-over par 75 Tuesday, a day after shooting 6-over par 78 to finish the first two rounds of the Women’s APL at 153, missing the cut by five strokes.

Korea's Eun Jeong Seong earned medalist honors Tuesday as she finished the opening two rounds of qualifying at 10-under par 134, firing a 64 during the final round.

Neisen, seeded No. 21 for match play, will face Stani Schiavone of Bangor, Pa., Wednesday at 12:45 p.m. during the Round of 64 at the Home Course in DuPont, Wash.
