ORLANDO, Fla. – Carding a final round team score of 304 Tuesday at the 2016 UCF Challenge, the University of Minnesota women’s golf team finished its first tournament of the 2016 spring season in 13th place at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
The Gophers were led by junior Emie Peronnin who notched her first-career top-10 finish, shooting a final-round 75 to finish tied for sixth at 4-over par 220.
Peronnin, Frejus, France, began the championship with a round of 72 Sunday before answering with a 1-over par 73 during Monday’s second round.
After rolling in her birdie chance on the opening hole Tuesday, Peronnin would card four bogeys over her final 17 holes to finish the day at 75. Her previous best came at the 2015 Hurricane Invitational when she finished in a tie for 13th.
Sophomore Sabrine Garrison overcame her opening round 77 by shooting even par 72 during Monday’s second round before carding a 2-over par 74 during Tuesday’s final round to finish tied for 19th at 223.
Sophomore Heather Ciskowski fired a 3-over par 75 during the final round Tuesday to finish tied for 66th at 234, along with freshman teammate Muyu Wu.
The University of Houston carded a team score of 295 for the third consecutive round to edge Tulane University by one stroke at 885.
East Carolina University’s Frida Gustafsson Spang was the lone golfer to finish the championship under par as she shot a 3-under par 213 to earn a three-stroke victory over the University of Missouri’s Michelle Butler.
The Gopher women return to action Feb. 29-May 2 at the Hurricane Invitational at the Biltmore Golf Club in Miami.
