April 22, 2024
DELLWOOD, Mn. -- Jon Reigstad birdied four of the first eight holes at Dellwood Country Club on Wednesday. He added two more on the back nine, plus one bogey, as he shot a 5-under-par 67.
With that, the Director of Golf at Keller GC took a one-stroke lead after the opening round of the North Star Open.
Donald Constable, the former Minnesota State Amateur champion from Minnetonka, and Troy Burne assistant Brent Snyder are tied for second with 68's going into Thursday's final round.
After making the turn in 32 (4 under), Reigstad made his only bogey of the round, at the 440-yard, par-4 10th hole. But he bounced back with birdies at the par-4 14th and the par-5 17th holes.
Snyder, a former Minnesota PGa Player of the Year, was 3 under after 15 holes. He then bogeyed the long (220-yard) par-3 16th, but came right back with an eagle 3 at the par-5 17th.
Defending champion Hudson Carpenter shot 73.
First place in the North Star Open is guaranteed to be $15,000.
