• Evans Scholars Foundation
  The Evans Scholars Foundation, sponsored by the Western Golf Association, administers the largest privately funded college scholarship program in the nation. Since 1930, when the first two Scholars enrolled at Northwestern University, more than 7,000 outstanding young men and women have participated in the program. For more information, click here.

• Sister Kenny Institute Golf Program for Golfers with Physical Disabilities:
  Sister Kenny Institute, an acute rehabilitation hospital in Minneapolis, has sponsored a weekly golf program each summer for golfers with physical disabilities since 1979 at Braemar Golf Course in Edina, Minn. The program provides adaptive equipment, along with special instruction, so that golfers with disabilities can enjoy the game of golf. Each week, participants golf a nine-hole executive course. Golfers using wheelchairs, walkers and other aids have easy access to the Braemar course.

  2007 is the 28th anniversary of the Sister Kenny Golf Program. The League and Lessons at Braemar Golf Course started on Monday, May 14, 2007. The program:

  • Instructs golfers with physical disabilities in adapted golfing techniques.
  • Allows golfers with disabilities to enjoy the sport with their family and friends.
  • Sponsors an annual competitive tournament.
  • Gives people with disabilities the opportunity to pursue their leisure interest in golf.
  • Allows volunteers to be involved in, and to promote, a recreational program that increases awareness of the abilities of people with physical disabilities.

  Program participants are responsible to pay course greens fees each week. Golf carts are free. The clinic includes an introduction to adaptive golf techniques, specialized equipment for golfers with disabilities, and individualized instruction on the driving range and putting green.
