Deeg, Bolstad/University Win in Record-Setting FashionMONTICELLO -- Cassie Deeg posted the lowest individual girls score in the 49-year history of the MGA Team Championships on Thursday. The MGA Junior Girls champion, who will be a sophomore at Stillwater in a few weeks, added a 72 to the 71 she had produced at Monticello Country Club in Wednesday's first round. Her 143 aggregate for the two days gave her a three-stroke victory over Gretchen Huhnerkoch (72-74--146). Deeg and Huhnerkoch were both members of the Les Bolstad/University Golf Course, which won the girls team competition for the fifth consecutive year -- and also set a record for lowest two-day total, with a 289 (two scores count each day). Second-place Crystal Lake finished 31 strokes behind, at 320, and the Vintage was another seven back at 327. This, incidentally, was the last junior tournament for Huhnerkoch, who will be starting her freshman year at Wichita State later this month. In the 25 tournaments she's played this year, Huhnerkoch has been the medalist 13 times, been second six times and third another four times. Laura Petterson of Crystal took third place individually. She shot 76 on Thursday for an overall 154, which was one better than the 155 by Cydney Hasselberg (79-76) of the Vintage. With Deeg's victory, Bolstad/University has now take the individual championship home in five of the last six years. Lauren Huhnerkoch (Gretchen's older sister) took the title in 2004, and BU's Hillary Gerster won it the next year, in '05, and again in '07. Last year, Gretchen Huhnerkoch came out on top, and now Deeg. As for the boys, Micah Meogordon of Meadows GC replicated a first-round 70 on Thursday, for a two-day tab of 140, and that made him the winner by two shots over Myles Pfingston (74-70--144) of Interlaken. Danny Cameron, an all-state high player from Jefferson who was competing at Monticello as an individual only, ended up one further back, alone in third place at 145 (72-73). Minnetonka led after the first day with a 223 (three boys' scores count toward the team total), and shot the same score on Thursday to win the boys team trophy with an overall 446. 29th MGA State Junior Team Championships At Monticello Country Club Par 72 Final results Girls Division 18 Hole Team Total (2 of 4 scores) 36 Hole Team Total Bolstad/University 143 / 146 289 Cassie Deeg 71 / 72 -- 143 Individual 1st PlaceGretchen Huhnerkoch 72 / 74 -- 146 Individual 2nd Place Nicole Magee 100 / 100 - 200 Chloe Westlund 93 / 88 - 181 Crystal Lake 156 / 164 320 Kendra Brion 78 / 88 - 166 Shannon Cornwell 101 / 104 - 205 Laura Petterson 78 / 76 -- 154 -- Individual 3 rd PlaceJessie Brion 103 / 93 - 196 The Vintage 165 / 162 327 Cydney Hasselberg 79 / 76 - 155 Kelly Hagenson 86 / 86 - 172 Emily Israelson 90 / 94 - 184 Wild Marsh 171 / 170 341 Megan Davis 90 / 82 - 172 Abby Bollum 97 / 104 - 201 Lexi Bollant 81 / 88 - 169 Emma Theiss 96 / 93 - 189 Minnesota Valley 176 / 168 344 Tayler Hoag 89 / 81 - 170 Jessa Zuck 100 / 96 - 196 Lucia Peterson 87 / 87 - 174 Haley Hoag 108 / 107 - 215 Lester Park 181 / 179 360 Tabitha Kunst 82 / 84 - 166 Molly Kolquist 99 / 102 - 201 Krista Anderson 104 / 95 - 199 St. Cloud 188 / 174 362 Katie Krutchen 94 / 86 - 180 Danielle Torgerson 98 / 88 - 186 Hannah Erickson 94 / 102 - 196 Madison Mack 102 / 107 - 209 Jackson 193 / 176 369 Kaylee Benson 94 / 81 - 175 Emily Marker 102 / 95 - 197 Erika Voss 99 / 99 - 198 Karlee Schneekloth 108 / 99 - 207 The Jewel 185 / 190 375 Abby Gruber 90 / 88 - 178 Annalise Wallerich 95 / 110 - 205 Carley Siewert 99 / 102 - 201 Southview 202 / 190 392 Jennifer Petereson 100 / 98 - 198 Amy Kaschke 102 / 92 - 194 Osakis 199 / 205 404 Jackie Bowman 116 / 112 - 228 Emily Backes 142 / 135 - 277 Peyton Garcia 125 / 126 - 251 Kelsey Ross 83 / 93 - 176 GIRLS INDIVIDUALS: Allie Ostrander 77 / 81 -- 158 Taylor Post 82 / 85 -- 167 Becca Eggers 85 / 87 -- 172 Mariah Chesley 85 / 88 -- 173 Grace Gilmore 91 / 87 -- 178 Rebekah Schieck 90 / 90 -- 180 Haley Wolfe 91 / 94 - 185
