Cannon/Frie Claim MGA Mixed Team Championship

EDINA, MN – Cindy Cannon and Mark Frie of Monticello CC earned the title at the 10^th MGA Mixed Team Championship played at Braemar Golf Club in Edina. The pair fired a 7-under par total of 135, shooting a 6-under par 65 Monday, followed by a closing round 1-under par 70 Tuesday. It is the pair’s first MGA Mixed Team crown.

Katie and Bill Bakken of University GC were one shot back with a 136, carding 68s each day. The pair earned the title in the Mixed Division. Past Champions Julie-Kalina Jenson and Terry Moores III of Elk River CC were two shots back with a 137 (68-69). Earning the title in the Husband/Wife Division were Carrie and Charlie Ehlers of the Marshall Golf Club with a 140, shooting a 69 Monday and a 71 Tuesday.

Monday’s format was two-person best ball. Tuesday’s play was a modified Chapman, where each player plays their partner’s tee shot then players will select the ball they wish to score on the hole, playing alternate shot until the ball is holed out.

Claiming the Mixed Division net title were Julie and Scott Skavanger of Rolling Green CC with a 131 (64-67). Winning the net championship in the Husband/Wife Division were Denise and Curt Carlson of Greenhaven GC with a 126, carding a 59 Monday and a 67 Tuesday.
