100 Hole Hike

1 Day. 100 Holes. Golf's Ultimate Charitable Challenge.

On September 18 and 19, ten hikers completed the 6th annual 100 Hole Hike at the Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach and Oak Glen Executive 9 in Stillwater, respectively, to raise funds for Youth on Course Minnesota, where kids ages 6-18 play golf for $5 or less. They raised more than $40,000, and with the Minnesota Golf Foundation board of trustees matching $20,000, the total raised came to $60,000. Additional hikes were conducted at Somerset CC and Cragun’s Legacy Courses. On average, 100 holes of golf took 10 hours to complete, covered up to 22 miles and 47,000 steps, and burned more than 5,000 calories. Birdies were elusive, only 41 were recorded, and many golf balls were “donated” to the effort: the average hiker lost six balls. A job well done to hikers, donors and the MGA host courses.

Meet the Hikers

Joel Comstock

I am the Regional Affairs Director for the Minnesota Golf Association and will be participating in the 100 Hole Hike at the Lafayette Club for the sixth straight year. Over my five previous hikes, I have walked 110 miles (22.5/hike), took over 2,000 strokes (400/hike), and have raised $30,000 which has supported 6,000 rounds of golf for YOC Minnesota members. I am taking on the challenge because MN Youth on Course provides access and opportunities to the game of golf for all kids throughout the state, and by hiking believe I am helping grow our reach in creating a positive impact on youth in our state.

I am playing 100 holes! No laughing I did it in 2019; barely. The only way I will play 100 holes of golf in one day is to provide the opportunity to get more kids playing more golf. Golf has taught me so much about life, allowed me to make great friends and challenge myself. Organizations talk about “growing the game”, well YOC is truly growing the game. Raising funds to get more kids playing golf is why I am playing 100 holes again!

This year I am taking on my first 100 Hole Hike at Oak Glen Colf Course! I am hiking because this program is personal to me. Why? Because I am an Alumni! Now I feel like I have a duty to pay it forward! During my YOC rounds, I fell in love with everything golf from the friendships made on the first tee, making a long putt, hitting a straight drive, to tinkering with equipment on the range. YOC gave me the ability to discover a lifelong passion I never knew I would have. This passion has led me to being a USGA P.J. Boatwright Intern for the Minnesota Golf Association, with the plan of pursuing a career within the great game of golf. Please donate to my hike so more kids like me can chase their passions and dreams:

I am the Caddie Development and Communications Manager for the Minnesota Golf Association, and I will be taking on the challenge of the 100 Hole Hike for the second time and second straight year at Oak Glen Golf Course! I am hiking again because I grew up loving everything about the game of golf and want youth across the state of Minnesota to have the same opportunity and access that I did to not only learn and love the game but make lifelong friendships and learn important life lessons. Anthony Reeder

My name is Anthony Reeder and I am an assistant professional at Cragun's Legacy Courses in Brainerd. This year I am participating in 3 different 100-hole hikes here in Minnesota. I already completed my first hike of the season at Cragun's on August 10th with a total distance of 16.18 miles hiked in 9 hours and 23 minutes. I will be completing back to back 100 hole hikes on September 18th at Lafayette Club and September 19th at Oak Glen. The reason I am hiking is to support the Youth on Course mission to help, support, and provide opportunities through golf to our junior golfers here in Minnesota.
