Senior Tour Site Captain (Northern Section) - Seasonal Position

About the MGA: Founded in 1901, the Minnesota Golf Association is the governing body over amateur golf in the state, responsible for administering the Rules of Golf, and committed to uphold and promote the game of golf and its values for all golfers in Minnesota. The MGA conducts 23 major amateur championships and 14 USGA qualifying events each year. Thanks to the support of its member clubs and associate members, and the efforts of its volunteers and staff, the MGA provides a variety of services such as handicapping, course rating and measuring, an online golf news and information resource, mngolf.org, and an official publication, Minnesota Golfer magazine, which benefits all golfers throughout Minnesota.

Position Summary: Conduct & oversee Northern section MGA Senior Tour events on-site.

Requirements:

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to perform tasks in an organized, efficient, and timely manner
• Strong attention to detail
• Patience and good problem-solving skills
• Punctual and reliable
• Experience using Golf Genius tournament management software (a plus, but not required)
• Ability to learn and use job-related programs
• Knowledge of The Rules of Golf & The Rules of Handicapping preferred
• Previous golf knowledge/experience is strongly recommended
• Ability to travel to and from each Northern Senior Tour events

General Duties:

• Attend events, register players, answer questions, and award prizes 
• Communicate with Senior Tour Manager regarding last-minute withdrawals/entries and day-of-event questions
• Enter scores and compute results using Golf Genius software
• Perform other duties as apparent or assigned

Compensation & Benefits:

• $155 per event worked or $20/hr if an event is canceled and a portion of the event is worked
• Mileage, food & beverages, and in some cases, lodging, will be reimbursed.

Mental Demands:

• Perform detailed work under pressure situations
• Interact with co-workers, players and host facilities

Physical Demands:

• This position often works in an outside golf course environment spending several hours a day in various weather conditions
• This position requires travel throughout the state of Minnesota, and ability to travel including overnight and some weekends

Hours: Hours will vary, with some early morning and late evening hours required. A few overnight stays during tournament season may be needed, which will include some travel.

Employment: (Seasonal Position): 8-12 events, approximately 8 hours each. Events are held on weekdays, 1 to 2 per week, May-September. We will be looking to hire someone for the 2025 season.
