June 28, 2020

By Nick Hunter
MINNEAPOLIS – With the help of six birdies and an eagle on his scorecard Saturday, Yarri Bryn grabbed the lead of the 29th Twin Cities Championship after the first round of play at Theodore Wirth Golf Club.
Posting a 6-under 66 to begin the championship, Bryn will carry a three-stroke lead over Carter Doose when the tournament transitions to Hastings Golf Club for the final round Sunday.
Bryn, from Bunker Hills Golf Club, carded a pair of early birdies to begin the championship Saturday before dropping a stroke with a bogey at the fourth. Bouncing back with a birdie at the par-5 sixth, Bryn would record three birdies and an eagle against one bogey over his final 12 holes to pace the field with a 6-under 66.
Doose, a former St. Cloud State University golfer, turned in 1-under Saturday before back-to-back birdies early on his front nine moved him to 4-under for the round. Stumbling with a pair of late bogeys, Doose finished his opening round with a birdie on the final hole to post a 3-under 69 to finish three shots off the lead.
The final round of the 29th Twin Cities Championship begins at 11 a.m. Sunday at Hastings Golf Club.
