Flanagan and Arnorsson Lead Gopher Men During Day One of Tiger Invite

March 4, 2018

OPELIKA, Ala. – Behind freshman Angus Flanagan and senior Runar Arnorsson, the University of Minnesota men’s golf team finished the first day of competition at the 2018 Tiger Invitational in a tie for seventh place at Grand National Lake Course.

Flanagan and Arnorsson each fired rounds of 1-over par 73 Sunday to finish Day One in a tie for 22nd place, seven shots off the lead.

A pair of bogeys with one birdie over the front nine put Flanagan at 1-over for the round, but he would play the final nine holes at even par to finish at 1-over, while Arnorsson played his opening nine at even par before rolling in four birdies on the back nine, but stumbled with three bogeys and a double.

Thomas Longbella and Charlie Duensing finished the first round tied for 40th after shooting rounds of 3-over par 75.

Host school Auburn University, ranked No. 9 by golfstat.com, carded a team total of 291 Sunday to take a three-stroke advantage over Kennesaw State University. Kennesaw State’s Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero got off to a hot start Sunday, rolling in three birdies with one bogey on his front nine before carding four birdies over the final nine holes to take a one-stroke lead at 6-under par 66.
