Gopher Men Finish Fall Season Ninth at Royal Oaks Intercollegiate

 
 
  CAROLLTON, Texas – The University of Minnesota men’s golf team wrapped up the fall season Tuesday by posting the second lowest team score during the final round of the 2018 Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, improving 18 strokes from the previous day to finish ninth at Maridoe Golf Club.
 
Oklahoma State University flexed its muscle as defending NCAA team champions and the No. 1 ranked team in men’s college golf, shooting a final-round team score of 281 Tuesday to cruise to a 32-stroke victory over North Carolina State University as the Cowboys were helped by four of their five starters finishing inside the top-10.
 
OSU’s Viktor Hovland and Matthew Wolff finished the 54-hole championship at 4-under par 206 to earn a share of medalist honors along with Pepperdine University’s Clay Feagler.
 
The Gophers were led by sophomore Angus Flanagan who posted his best round of the championship Tuesday, a round of even par 70 to finish tied for 28^th at 221, 15 shots back.
 
Junio transfer Noah Rasinski bookended rounds of 75 with a round of 73 during Monday’s second round to finish tied for 36^th at 223, while freshman Lincoln Johnson fired his best round of the tournament Tuesday to finish 52^nd at 228.
 
The Gopher men return to action Feb. 8-9, 2019 at the Big Ten Match Play at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla.
