Halvorson Wins Second Straight; BOLD Survives Final Round Scare to Win Second Team Title

 BECKER, Minn. – Fending off a ferocious surge by Park Christian High School during the final round of the 2019 Minnesota State High School Girls’ Class A Tournament Wednesday, BOLD High School earned a one-stroke victory at Pebble Creek Golf Club for its second team title in three seasons.
 
Entering the final day 18 shots off the lead after an opening round of 363 Tuesday, Park Christian improved by 21 strokes on the final day, falling one shot shy of the school’s first team state victory.
 
BOLD got a big boost from junior Makayla Snow who finished the championship in sixth place at 172, while teammate Ashely Trongard placed in a tie for seventh at 173. Junior Lanie Mages carded a final-round 90 to finish inside the top-10.
 
Lac Qui Parle Valley’s Rachel Halvorson earned medalist honors by one stroke for the second straight season, edging Fillmore Central’s Madison Scheevel, who carded a final round 79 Wednesday.
 
Emily Doeden carded the low round of the tournament by shooting 5-over 77 to help Park Christian jump up the leaderboard Wednesday. Doeden would finish in third place at 162.
