Hamak Turns in Impressive Performance to Win MN PGA Players' Tour Boys' Match Play Championship

  BRAINERD, Minn. – Helped by an eagle and two birdies early during the championship match of the 2019 Minnesota PGA Players’ Tour Boys' Match Play Championship, Logan Hamak earned a victory over Nick LaMotte, 3 and 2, to claim the championship Friday at the Dutch Legacy Course at Cragun’s Resort.
 
Jumping out to the early lead Friday, Hamak took a 3-up lead through four holes before LaMotte battled back by carding three consecutive birdies to pull within one. Hamak took control of the match by answering with four birdies in a five-hole span to extend his lead to 5-up through 11 holes and would hang on to close out the final match with a par at the 16^th, claiming victory, 3 and 2.
 
Hamak, from Sartell, Minn., was seeded No. 9 to open the championship Wednesday, cruising to an opening-round victory over Jonathan Wall, 7 and 5, before downing Blake Schuler during the Round of 32.
 
Ousting Kyler Schwamb during the Round of 16, 6 and 5, Hamak advanced to the quarterfinals and would get past Kyle Hickey, 5 and 4. Facing Josh Hebrink during the semifinals, Hamak cruised to victory, 8 and 7, to reach the championship match against LaMotte.
