Minnesota Golfer Magazine Recognized for Publishing Excellence

EDINA, Minn. (Nov. 2, 2018) -- The Minnesota Golf Association’s publication, Minnesota Golfer magazine, grabbed eight awards including four gold awards – a publication best – at the 22nd Annual MMPA Excellence Awards on Nov. 1. The Minnesota Media & Publications Association annual ceremony, held at Aria in downtown Minneapolis, was hosted by WCCO TV personalities Mike Augustyniak and Kate Raddatz.

There were 540 entries for the awards and 58 judges who selected the award-winning entries. Augustyniak and Raddatz announced the bronze and silver winners and then called the gold winners (best in category) up on stage to receive their engraved glass awards. St. Olaf, Experience Life, Mpls/St.Paul and Minnesota Golfer magazines were among several publications to garner multiple gold awards.  

Minnesota Golfer, along with its publishing partner, MSP Communications, earned four gold awards—best Directory and best Feature Design for the directory issue’s “Driving Minnesota,” and best Regular Column and best Use of Data/Infographic for Mark Craig’s “Doing the Right Thing” and “By The Numbers” in the summer issue. 
 
The magazine also received a silver award for best Single Page or Spread Design for the summer issue’s “Great Drives,” and three bronze awards for Overall Excellence, best Cover Design for the directory issue, and best Regular Column for Tom Ryan’s “Carrying On” in the spring issue.  
 
The Growler was chosen as the Peoples’ Choice award, for the second consecutive year, and American Craft magazine was named the 2018 Magazine of the Year.
Since 2000, Minnesota Golfer magazine has been recognized with 77 MMPA Publishing Excellence Awards.
