MORTON, Minn. – Helped by three golfers finishing inside the top-5 Sunday at Dacotah Ridge Golf Club, the Minnesota State University women’s golf team secured its first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship, putting an end to Augustana University’s string of nine straight conference victories.

The Mavericks also got help from sophomore Maddy Messin, who carded a pair of 78’s to finish in fourth place at 238.
With the win Sunday, the Mavericks earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Central Super Regional May 6-8 at Muskogee Country Club in Muskogee, Okla., marking the 11th consecutive trip to the postseason for Minnesota State.
