St. Kate's Earns Second NCAA Bid With 29-Stroke MIAC Win

 HASTINGS, Minn. – Firing a tournament-low team score of 298 during the final round Sunday, The St. Catherine women’s golf team cruised to a 29-stroke victory over Gustavus Adolphus at the 2021 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, claiming the second conference victory in the program’s history.
 
The Wildcats placed four golfers inside the top-10 Sunday at Emerald Greens Golf Club to help earn the automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship May 11-14 at Forest Akers Golf Course in Lansing, Mich.
 
Carleton College’s Kristin Miyagi earned individual medalist honors at 4-over par 220, but four Wildcat golfers finished close behind. Sophomore Sydney Brown used back-to-back rounds of 75 during the second and third rounds to finish alone in second place at 8-over 224.
 
Senior Jordan Amelon carded a career-best finish at the championship by finishing third at 224. Amelon carded an eagle on the final hole Sunday to post her second straight round of 74 to jump into third place.
 
Freshman Jaycee Rhodes claimed a program best Sunday by finishing in fourth place, carding a 54-hole tally of 12-over 228, the lowest score for a rookie golfer in school history.
 
Junior Kate Taylor claimed a seventh-place finish at 233, while sophomore Dasha Parker finished her first appearance at the championship tied for 26^th at 245.
 
The Wildcats last qualified for the national tournament with an automatic bid in 2017.
