Vangsness and McMorrow Share Medalist Honors, Qualify for U.S. Amateur

  ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- Casey Vangsness and Tyler McMorrow each carded a 36-hole total of 139 Monday at St. Cloud Country Club to share medalist honors and advance to the U.S. Amateur.

The qualifier was held to determine the field at the 113th U.S. Amateur Championship, August 12-18 at the Country Club in Brookline, Mass.

Vangsness, Alexandria, Minn., and McMorrow, St. Cloud, Minn., will be joined by Jesse Bull, Minneapolis, who finished at 140 to advance as well.

Jordan Hawkinson, Stillwater, Minn., and Topher Baron, Minnetonka, Minn., finished as first as second alternates, respectively.

Fresh off his Minnesota State Open victory Sunday at Edinburgh USA Golf Club, Minnesota Gopher Jon DuToit finished in a tie for eighth place at 2-over par 144, failing to qualify.
