Weather Cuts Short Opening Round of Minnesota State Junior Boys' Championship in Willmar

  WILLMAR, Minn. – Following two weather delays during the opening round of the 90th Minnesota State Junior Boys’ Championship at Eagle Creek Golf Club, play has been suspended for the day and will resume early Wednesday.

With under half the field completing 18 holes Tuesday, Jack Ebner currently leads the field following his opening round of 1-under par 71.

Ebner, Edina, Minn., began his opening round on the back side Tuesday and recorded bogeys at the 12th and 15th holes to drop to 2-over for the tournament. Ebner would finish his opening nine with a birdie at the 17th before carding three birdies over the first six holes on his back nine, moving to 2-under.

He would bogey the his final hole to card a 1-under par 71 and currently holds a one-shot lead over Connor Glynn who finished the opening round at even par 72.

Glynn, Waconia, Minn., teed off the 10th hole to begin his opening round and started quickly with a pair of birdies at the 11th and 12th holes before carding bogey at the 13th to fall back to 1-under.

Trading a birdie for another bogey at the 17th, Glynn turned at 1-under before converting his birdie opportunity at the par-3 second to get back to 2-under.

Glynn would record two bogeys at the fifth and seventh holes to finish the first round at even par before the opening round was called for the day.

Play was suspended initially at 9 a.m. due to inclement weather before players were called off the course again at 3:09 p.m.

The first round will resume at 7 a.m. Thursday and following a full 18-hole round, the field will be cut and repaired before the second rounds begins at approximately 1 p.m. from both the No. 1 and No. 10 tees.
