BYRON, Minn. (Oct. 11, 2022) -- The visitors, twenty-four senior tour members from Wisconsin, outplayed the home team representing the MGA Senior Tour, 20 points to 16 points in net and gross four-ball and singles match play October 10 and 11 during the 5th Annual MGA-WSGA Senior Tour Cup Matches hosted by Somerby Golf Club in Byron, Minn.

Tied at 6 points each after Monday's four-ball matches, the competitive senior golfers were fairly evenly matched in singles (gross) play during the second day, with the MGA actually taking a 1-point advantage, 6.5 to 5.5. However, it was the Badger State senior net golfers who handily swept their Gopher opponents, winning 8.5 of the remaining 12 points up for grabs.

The winning team retained the trophy, their 4th victory in the event's six-year history (the 2020 event was cancelled), and sipped a hoppy adult beverage from the glass boot as their ceremonial reward. The MGA trails 4 to 1.

The 6th Annual MGA-WSGA Senior Tour Cup Matches wil be played in Wisconsin next year, at a site and date yet to be determined.
