Registration Information

In 1901, the first Amateur Championship concluded the MGA's inaugural meeting at the Meadow Brook Club in Winona. Despite the fact the Championship was not conducted in 1942-1944 due to the war, it remains one of the oldest golf championships in the state.  Past champions include Harry Legg (10), Jimmy Johnson (7), Pat Sawyer (5) and some other notables like Tom Lehman, Tim Herron and John Harris.

The MGA Amateur also is one of the largest golfing events in the state with over 700 people entering the championship every year. It takes ten or more qualifying sites around the state to narrow down the competitors to a starting field of 156.

Future sites include:
2020 - Edina Country Club
2021 - Rush Creek Golf Club
2022 - Olympic Hills Golf Club
2023 - Minneapolis Golf Club

Entry Fee

Players attempting to qualify will pay a $80 fee. All successful qualifiers will pay an additional $75 Championship fee. All exempt players will pay the full $155 fee.

Eligibility

Entries are open to amateur golfers:

  1. Who are currently Associate Members of the MGA at the club from which they are playing,
  2. Whose club is a current member club of the MGA, and
  3. Whose USGA Handicap Index for 18 holes does not exceed 6.4 at the time of entry.

All entries are subject to rejection at any time by the MGA Tournament Committee.
