last year's News Stories
The Tournament will be divided into divisions.
- The Championship Division will be elective and played at stroke play, no handicap (gross).
- A 65 and over Championship Division (low gross: no handicap) is elective and is available for players who are 65 years of age and older as of July 17, 2021. If you elect this division you are not eligible to compete in the Championship Division for prize money or MGA Player Points.
- The remaining flights will be established based upon the player's handicap index and competition will be at net stroke play.
The cumulative 36-hole score will be the player's score for the tournament. If a tie occurs for first place, a sudden death playoff (all divisions/flights) will take place.
Trophies will be awarded to the low gross winner in the Championship Division (Rod Magnuson Trophy), 65 and Over Championship Division and to the low net winners in the handicap flights.
Merchandise prize certificates will be awarded in all flights.
Handicaps for the net flights will be verified by the Tournament Committee and appropriate handicaps will be applied after adjusting to the slope rating of the golf course. The Committee may adjust handicaps.
To be awarded player point a player must be 55 years of age or older.
Players in the 65 and Over Division and handicap divisions are not eligible for MGA Player Points.
The Championships are open to amateur players who are a member of a club that is a member of the Minnesota Public Golf Association (MPGA) and has a current active GHIN handicap for the current season at that club. Players must be at least 50 years of age as of the start of competition.
