An Ace Propels Tadewald to Third Twin Cities Senior Championship Title

  COON RAPIDS, Minn. – Carding an even par 72 Wednesday, Bill Tadewald claimed a one-stroke victory at the 2015 Twin Cities Championship at Bunker Hills Golf Club.

J.T. Johnson and Patrick Muellerleile both carded rounds of 1-over par 73 to finish tied for second, while Jon Empanger and Leif Carlson both shot 73 to tie for fourth.

Tadewald, playing on his home course, rolled in consecutive pars before making eagle at the par-5 fourth hole to quickly jump to 2-under for the championship.

With back-to-back bogeys at the seventh and eighth holes, Tadewald would turn at even par.

Tadewald’s round was highlighted by an ace at the 159-yard, par-3 12th hole to again move to 2-under par. A bogey on the ensuing hole put Tadewald back at 1-under for the round and after a bogey at the 15th, he would end the day with three consecutive pars to finish on top of the leaderboard, shooting 72.

Tadewald claims his third victory at the event, winning in 2006 and another in 2009, both at Bunker Hills.

Johnson, the defending champion from a year ago, carded a single birdie on the front nine to turn at 1-under par before adding his second birdie at the par-4 13th hole, moving to 2-under.

A bogey at the 15th would move Johnson back to 1-under for the championship as he would finish the round with back-to-back bogeys on the final two holes to shoot 73, tied for second.

Muellerleile, Eagle Valley Golf Course, got off to a slow start with a bogey on the opening hole but would pull even with a birdie at the fourth.

Back-to-back bogeys at the seventh and eighth holes put Muellerleile at 2-over as he headed to the final nine holes Wednesday, but he would answer with a birdie at the 11th.

Bogeys at the 12th and 16th holes dropped Muellerleile to 3-over par, but he finished strong with a pair of birdies at Nos. 17 and 18 to finish tied for second, carding a 73.
