How They're Doing: Minnesotans on Pro Tour Money Lists -- April 22
April 22, 2024
Justin Doeden birdied four of the last six holes at Birdiewood Golf Club in Flower Mound, Texas, last Friday in the final round of Pre-Qualifying for the Web.com Tour. With that, he took the suspense out of his attempt to advance to the First Stage of qualifying later this month.
That sprint to the finish line enabled Doeden to shoot a 5-under-par 67, which gave him a 54-hole total of 209 (7 under). The former University of Minnesota star tied for ninth in a field of 80 and made it to the next stage with seven strokes to spare. Doeden completed his eligibility at Minnesota this spring (he was the only Gopher to get an invitation to the NCAA regionals) and turned pro in July, shortly after winning the Krugel Invitational for the second year in a row.
Birdiewood GC was one of three courses where Pre-Qualifying tournaments were held last week, and the top 38 finishers and ties advanced. Another three Pre-Qualifying tournaments will be held later this week.
There was also a Web.com Pre-Qualifier in Lincoln, Neb., last week, and three Minnesotans -- Yarri Bryn, Jon DuToit and Dylan Baker -- advanced from there. Bryn tied for 24th with a 214 (72-69-73). DuToit, a former Minnesota State Amateur and State Open champion, tied for 32nd at 216, along with Baker. As in Texas, the top 38 and ties advanced from Nebraska. It took 217 to make it there.
There will be 11 First Stage tournaments, beginning Sept. 26. The last of them will conclude Oct. 13. Five Second Stage qualifiers will follow, beginning Oct. 31.
The Final Stage of the Web.com Q-School will be played in Chandler, Ariz., Dec. 7-10. Anyone who finishes in the top 45 there will have at least limited status on the 2018 Web.com Tour.
