Heritage Links Wins Boys Jr. Team Championship; Girls From Bemidji Town and Country Cruise to Title

  LAKEVILLE, Minn. – After taking a commanding eight-stroke lead after the first round of the Minnesota Golf Association Junior Boys Team Championship at Heritage Links Golf Club, the home-course team increased its lead Tuesday to win by ten strokes.

The girls from Bemidji Town and Country Club widened their four-stroke lead Tuesday to shoot 28-over 312 to win the girls’ division by 16 strokes over Marshall Golf Club, who finished second at 328.

Noah Rasinski led the way for the team from Heritage Links as he carded a 2-over par 73, while Phil Thompson shot a 5-over par 76. Tanner Sperling contributed with a 10-over par 81 Tuesday.

Derek Farrell, Matt Mellin, Dylan Kolquist and Joe Liberty, from Ridgeview Country Club, finished in second place after firing a team score of 29-over par 228.

The team was led by Farrell Tuesday, as he carded a 2-over par 73, while Kolquist fired a 7-over par 78. Mellin rounded out the team score shooting a 6-over par 77 Tuesday.

The team from Baker National Golf Club finished third, 12 shots off the lead at 31-over par 230 Tuesday and was led by Will Holmgren, who carded a 4-over par 75. Alex Beversdorf shot a 5-over par 76, while Ben Kautzky shot an 8-over par 79 during the final round.

Morgan Miller and Morgan Williams led the way for the girls from Bemidji Town and Country Club as they both fired a 6-over par 77 during Tuesday’s round, while Emily Israelson carded a 7-over par 78.

Marshall Golf Club finished second at 328 and was led by Hanna Peterson, who carded a 11-over par 82 Tuesday, while Jessica Blanchard’s 13-over par 84 and Olivia Peterson’s 94 contributed as well.

The girls from Westfield Golf Club finished in third place Tuesday, 19 shots off the lead and were led by Abbe Partington who carded an 82 and by Jill Hultgren’s 83, while Carissa Drackley’s 87 contributed as well.
