COON RAPIDS, Minn. – Trent Peterson followed his round of 63 with a 2-over par 74 during the second round of the 2014 Minnesota State Open Saturday at Bunker Hills Golf Club, and currently sits tied for the lead at 7-under par 137.

Professional Justin Smith fired a 3-under par 69 Saturday and sits tied with Peterson heading into Sunday’s final round.

Donald Constable carded a 4-under par 68 Saturday after shooting a 2-under par 70 the day before and sits one shot off the lead after the morning swing of tee times Saturday.

While Peterson, Valleywood Golf Course, had very little trouble navigating the course Friday, he ran into some trouble during the second round. Starting on the 10th hole, Peterson bogeyed his second hole before making birdies on the 13th and 16th to make the turn at 1-under 35.

Peterson couldn’t get his putter going on his final nine holes as he made five bogeys with a pair of birdies to finish the second round at 74.

Smith, University Golf Course, turned in a flawless scorecard Saturday as he made 14 consecutive pars before rolling in three straight birdies to move to 7-under for the championship.

Another par on the final hole put Smith in a tie for the lead at 137 after his round of 3-under par 69.

Constable, Spring Hill Golf Club, currently sits alone in third place with half of the field still on the course, after carding a 68 during his second round.

Beginning on the 10th tee, he rolled in three birdies on the front side to make the turn at 3-under par 33, before making bogey on the first.

Constable made back-to-back birdies on the second and third holes to get to 6-under for the tournament. He dropped a stroke on the eighth to fall to 5-under, but finished with a birdie on his final hole to card 68.
