Season Ends For Gopher Women With 11th-Place Finish at NCAA Regional

STILLWATER, Okla. – The University of Minnesota women’s golf team carded a 301 Saturday during the final round of the NCAA Division I Women’s Central Regional to finish 11th at 904, failing to qualify for the NCAA Championship at Karsten Creek Golf Club.

The Gophers began the day tied for 11th but couldn’t climb the leaderboard on the final day to move within the top eight teams to qualify for the national tournament.

Throughout the tournament the Gophers were led by junior Anna Laorr who finished tied for 22nd at 223 after shooting a 4-over par 76 during the final round.

Minnesota also got help from senior Carmen Laguna who finished her collegiate career tied for 32nd at 226, shooting a 2-over par 74 on the final day.

The University of California-Los Angeles won the tournament Sunday shooting a 287 to finish at 875, 17 strokes better than the University of Alabama at 892.

Kent State’s Wad Phaewchimplee earned medalist honors and qualified for the national tournament as an individual, shooting a 71 on the final day (209). Dana Finklestein, University of Nevada-Las Vegas, also qualified for the national tournament as she finished second at 214.
