LAKE ELMO, Minn. – On the final day of the 2014 NCAA Division II Women’s Super Regional golf tournament, Augustana carded a 326 Tuesday to finish fifth at 943 at Tartan Park Golf Course.

Concordia University, St. Paul shot a final round 317 to finish seventh at 963, while Minnesota State University finished eighth at 968.

The University of Central Oklahoma turned in another strong performance during Tuesday’s final round, shooting a 301 team score and cruised to a 29-stroke victory at 903.

Central Oklahoma was led by tournament medalist Taylor Neidy who shot a 2-under par 70 Tuesday to finish the tournament at 2-under par 214.

Along with Central Oklahoma, Southwest Oklahoma State University and Arkansas Tech also advance to the Division II National Championship as they finished second and third, respectively.

Augustana entered the final day tied for second place but cooler temperatures and windy conditions gave the Vikings all they could handle.

Sophomore Marisa Toivonen, Red Wing, Minn., led Augustana Tuesday as she turned in a 3-over par 75 to finish the tournament tied for seventh place at 231.

With her performance this week, Toivonen earned an invitation to play as an individual at the national championship along with teammate Allie Ostrander.

“I got off the really well this whole tournament and hitting greens is always key,” Toivonen said. “Today I got a couple of putts to fall so that really helped.”

Ostrander, a senior from Glenwood, Minn., carded an 11-over par 83 Tuesday after back-to-back rounds of 74 during the first two rounds.

“I think we have great momentum; it’s very positive knowing that we played so well at this tournament, so hopefully we can continue that at the national tournament, but more importantly, we’ll just have fun,” Ostrander said following Tuesday’s finale.

Toivonen makes her second appearance at the NCAA Championship as she tied for 18th a year ago, while Ostrander will make her fourth straight appearance with her best finish coming in 2012 during her sophomore season when she carded a 35-over 323, tied for 27th.

“I feel this experience will be different than the past three just knowing that it is my last hurrah as a college golfer,” Ostrander said. “I’m going to enjoy every moment because it’s a great experience and such an honor to be there.”

Head coach Peggy Kirby said the experience is bittersweet since the entire team won’t be making the trip to the national tournament.

“I’m so proud of [Ostrander] and [Toivonen], but you like to go as a team and I know there are three girls outside who are very disappointed. Maggie Leland, our other senior, had a great career—a great four years of collegiate golf and I’m so proud of her, but today it just didn’t happen for her,” Kirby said.

Alexandria, Minn., native Maggie Leland also made three appearances at the national tournament with her best finish coming in 2012 when she finished tied for 13th at 315. Tuesday Leland carded a 12-over par 84 to wrap up her career tied for 21st at 238.

Seventh place Concordia-St. Paul got help from Rachel Gray and Savannah Stone Tuesday as Gray finished 12th at 233, while Stone finished tied for 27th at 240.

Minnesota State finished in eighth place Tuesday and was led by Tabitha Kunst and Dani Selberg, both of whom shot a 5-over par 77. Kunst, Duluth, Minn., finished the regional tied for 13th at 234.

The NCAA Division II National Championship will be played May 14-17 at Rock Barn Golf and Spa in Conover, N.C.
