Trasamar Wins Dakotas Tour Event in Yankton, Earns $21,000

YANKTON, Fla. -- Jon Trasamar birdied three of the last six holes at Hillcrest Golf & Country Club on Sunday to tie for first place in the 44th Annual Hillcrest Invitational, and he then defaated Tim Ailes on the third hole of a playoff.

Trasamar and Ailes began the final round tied for first place. They both closed with 2-under-par 70's, which gave them 72-hole totals of 275 (13 under). Andre Metzger finished alone in third place, three strokes back at 278. He shot 68 on Sunday.

So did former Gustavus Adolphus All-American Neil Johnson, who tied for fourth at 280. 

With the victory, Trasamar received $21,000. That plus the $512.50 that he made in a 36-hole pro-am that preceded the 72-hole tournament, put him in fourth place on the 2017 Dakotas Tour money list, even though he has played only the two events. Ailes, who earned $10,000 for finishing second, is No. 2 on the money list with $22,445 in nine events.

Metzger, who got $7,000 for his efforts at Hillcrest, is the tour's leading money winner, with $26,245 in eight tournaments.

Trasamar, who played for the University of Minnesota and was on the Gophers' Big Ten championship team in 2014, didn't make his first birdie in the final round on Sunday until the 10th hole. He was 1 over for the round through 12 holes -- and two behind Ailes. But the former Blue Earth High School star birdied the 13th, the 15th and the 18th holes to claim a spot in the playoff.
