Berry and Reigstad Shoot 67 to Share Lead at MN PGA Professional Championship in Bemidji

  BEMIDJI, Minn. – Jonathan Reigstad and two-time defending champion Don Berry each carded rounds of 5-under par 67 Monday at Bemidji Town and Country Club to open the 2016 Minnesota PGA Professional Championship on top of the leaderboard.

The two will take a one-stroke advantage over Mitchell Mackedanz and Jeff Sorenson into Tuesday’s final round.

Beginning on the 10th tee during his opening round Monday, Berry started quickly with an eagle on the opening hole and chipped in for birdie at the par-3 11th to move to 3-under for the tournament.

Following consecutive pars to close out his front nine, Berry sank his birdie putt at the par-3 second to get to 3-under before converting his birdie look and the sixth and would finish the day at 67.

Also starting on the back nine Monday, Reigstad rolled in three birdies over the opening seven holes before taking bogey at the eighth to turn at 2-under.

Falling to 1-under with a bogey at the second, Reigstad rolled in birdie at the third and made eagle at the fourth to get to 4-under. A birdie on the final hole put Reigstad in the clubhouse with a share of the lead with Berry after the opening round.

Mackedanz, playing on his home course, carded a 4-under par 68 during the opening round Monday and will begin Tuesday’s final round in a tie for second with Sorenson, just one shot back of Berry and Reigstad.

The 2016 Minnesota PGA Professional Championship concludes Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. at Bemidji Town and Country Club.
