DuToit's 71 Earns Spot in MGA Amateur Championship, 15 Others Qualify

  NEW PRAGUE, Minn. – Carding a 1-under par 71 Monday at New Prague Golf Club, Minnesota Gopher Jon DuToit earned medalist honors and also qualified the 112th Minnesota Golf Association Amateur Championship.

A field of 73 golfers competed for 16 spots in one of the bigger qualifiers for this year’s tournament, which will be played July 20-22 at Northland Country Club in Duluth, Minn.

DuToit, Chaska Town Course, will be joined by Patrick Larkin, St. Cloud Country Club, who fired an even par 71.

Alex Zeyen, New Prague Golf Club, and Matthew Radke, Twin Cities Golf Club, and Jason Rhoades, Boulder Pointe Golf Club, each qualified shooting rounds of 2-over par 73. Five players qualified shooting 3-over par 74, while six players qualified carding a 75.

Mack Farley (Brackett’s Crossing Country Club), Brian Vanzile (Baker National Golf Course) and Maxwell Tylke (Valleywood Golf Course) finished as first, second and third alternates, respectively.
