STREAMSONG, Fla. – After shooting even par to begin the 2016 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship, the team of Olivia Herrick and Samantha Sommers fired a 2-under par 70 during the second round of stroke play Sunday to qualify for the match play portion of the championship at the Streamsong Resort.

Herrick, Roseville, Minn., and Sommers, St. Cloud, Minn., carded 11 consecutive pars to begin the final round of qualifying Sunday before sinking a birdie chance at the par-4 12th, moving to 1-under for the tournament.

An eagle at the par-4 13th would put Herrick and Sommers at 3-under, but following a bogey at the 14th, the pair would record four straight pars on the scorecard to finish the day at 2-under for the championship in a tie for 25th.

During the opening round Saturday, Herrick and Sommers rolled in two birdies with one bogey on the front nine to turn at 1-under. A pair of bogeys at the 15th and 16th put the two at 1-over for the round, but they would answer with a birdie at the 17th and finished the round at even par.

Herrick and Sommers finished as alternates in sectional qualifying for the inaugural tournament in 2015 and were invited to compete in the championship. The two qualified for match play before falling to Maria Fassi and Maria Balcazar, 3 and 2, during the Round of 32.

The Round of 32 is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. Monday as Herrick and Sommers will face Madison Barnett and Amanda Doherty at 10:18 a.m. at Streamsong Resort.
