Hicks Moves Closer to Repeat at MN Junior PGA Match Play

  NISSWA, Minn. – Collecting a pair of wins during the first day of competition at the 2022 Minnesota Junior PGA ‘Sota Series Match Play Championship Tuesday at The Pines at Grand View Lodge, Madi Hicks moved two steps closer to defending her title.

Hicks cruised during her opening match against Marina Allen, 6 and 4, before downing Kelsi Mauzy, 5 and 4, during the quarterfinal round.

She will face Emerson Garlie during the semifinal round early Wednesday.

Garlie slipped past Addi Wood, 2-up, early Tuesday before ousting Sophia Karsnia, 3 and 2, during the quarterfinal round.

Sammy Youngquist took the lead of her opening-round match against Morgan Krieger and would never look back, winning, 3 and 2.

Youngquist went up early during her quarterfinal match against Anna Eckmann, and hung on to win, 3 and 2.

She will face Jordana Windhorst-Knudsen during Wednesday’s semifinal round.
