April 15, 2024
MAPLEWOOD, Minn. – Rolling in a birdie on the third playoff hole Wednesday at Goodrich Golf Course, Connor Humble edged Caleb Christensen to win the 2017 Minnesota Public Golf Association Junior Public Links Championship.
The championship consists of one 18-hole round, with the top-10 players in the field advancing to a final nine-hole round.
Humble carded a 5-over par 75 to open the championship Wednesday to make the cut three shots off the lead, but stormed back with three birdies on his final nine holes to finish in a tie for the lead with Christensen at 2-over par 107.
Christensen fired a 4-over par 74 during the first 18 holes but rolled in back-to-back birdies at the fourth and fifth holes to finish 27 holes of regulation at 107, tied with Humble.
The two remained even for the first two playoff holes before Humble converted his birdie look to clinch the tournament.
Jack Michel took the early lead along with Michael Uhas after both players fired rounds of 72, but would each card rounds of 36 over the final nine holes to finish tied for third at 108.
