26th Twin Cities Junior Championship, June 21, at Victory Links Golf Course in Blaine. Notes by Gary Prevost       
 
Boys 16-18 Division
The 2017 champion is Jack Peterson of Phalen Park Golf Course in St. Paul who shot a 68, three under par, to defeat defending champion Peder Larson of Medina Country Club whose 70 was two shots back. Justin Tanquist of Dahlgreen Golf Course finished third with a 71. Peterson recently graduated from White Bear Lake High School where he competed in the Minnesota State High School AAA tournament four times. Last year he was runner up in the MPGA Junior Publinks, losing to Ian Mackenzie-Olson in a playoff. Peterson also won a Junior PGA event at Tanners Brook and qualified for the MGA Amateur Championship. He will attend Mankato State University next fall.
 
Girls Division (all ages)
The 2017 champion is Kiera Smith, of Fox Hollow Golf Club, whose round of 83 was one better than Jaycee Rhodes, of the Fairway Foundation. Finishing third with an 85 was Hannah Bruns, of Highland Park GC. Smith recently graduated from Heritage Christian Academy after competing in five Minnesota State High School 1A tournaments, and winning the individual title twice, in 2015 and 2016. She will attend Harding University in Arkansas next fall.
 
Boys 13-15 Division
The 2017 champion is Stellan Ovrick, of Hiawatha Golf Club, whose round of 66 was two better than Henry Lawrence, of Stillwater Oaks, and John Tucker, of Braemar Golf Club. Ovrick won the 2017 Minneapolis City Conference tournament at Minikahda as a ninth grader and he recently won a Junior PGA event at River Oaks.
