EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – Defeating Lynn Anderson Wednesday at Bent Creek Golf Club, Leigh Klasse earned her sixth consecutive Minnesota Golf Association Senior Women’s Amateur Match Play Championship Crown.

Anderson struck first by winning the opening hole after a bogey by Klasse, but Klasse answered by winning the third with a par before converting birdie at the par-4 fourth.

Taking advantage of a Klasse bogey at the fifth, Anderson evened the match before Klasse took a 1-up lead by winning the ninth with a bogey.

The always-steady Klasse took control of the match on the back nine Wednesday, carding a birdie at the par-4 11th to take a 2-up lead before extending her lead by winning the 13th.

Converting birdie at the par-3 14th Klasse took a commanding 4-up lead late and closed out the match at the 15th to claim the victory, 4 and 3, to continue her impressive winning streak.

Klasse had little trouble getting past Jill Nagel, 7 and 5, Monday before defeating Barbara Miller, 3 and 2, in the semifinals.
