EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – Leigh Klasse, Barbara Miller, Lynn Anderson and Brenda Williams each earned victories Monday to advance from the quarterfinal round of the Minnesota Golf Association Women’s Senior Amateur Match Play Championship at Bent Creek Golf Club.

The tournament is a combination of the Minnesota Women’s Public Golf Association State Senior Public Links Championship and the Minnesota Senior Women’s State Amateur Championship when the WMPGA and MGA merged last fall.

Klasse won the second hole with a par before taking four consecutive holes beginning at the fourth to take a commanding 5-up lead after seven. Carding par at the 13th, Klasse would clinch the match, 7 and 5, to advance to the semifinals Tuesday.

Jumping out to a 3-up lead early after three holes Monday, Barbara Miller cruised to a 4 and 3 victory over Betsy Aldrich and will face Klasse in the semifinals.

Lynn Anderson bounced back from an early pair of bogeys to open the championship Monday to win three of the next three holes en route to a 5 and 3 victory over Gail Tilsner.

Anderson faces Brenda Williams in the semifinals Tuesday after Williams used a late rally to erase a 3-down deficit to win the final six holes to defeat Ellie Layton, 3 and 1.

The semifinal round of the 2017 MGA Women’s Senior Amateur Championship is scheduled to begin at 8:02 a.m. Tuesday at Bent Creek Golf Club.
