JORDAN, Minn. – Opening the 2022 Minnesota State High School Class AA Tournament with a seemingly safe 11-stroke lead, the Pine-Island-Zumbrota-Mazeppa boys golf team posted a team tally of 307 Wednesday, surviving a second-day surge by Holy Family Catholic High School to earn a four-stroke victory at Ridge at Sand Creek.

Senior Anders Larson backed up his opening-round 73 by carding an even par 72 on the final day to lead the Wildcats to the team title. Junior Joseph Scripture posted a 2-over 74 to help lift the Wildcats by notching at top-10 finish with his individual performance.

Junior Michael Scripture carded an 81 on the final day of competition to finish tied for 33rd, while sophomore Cameron Bruns turned in an 82 Wednesday to place tied for 41st.

Beginning Wednesday’s final round with a share of the lead, St. Croix Lutheran freshman Sam Udovich got off to a quick start with two birdies over his first three holes on his way to a round of 1-under 71 to claim a two-stroke victory over Southwest Christian’s Jacob Ferrin, finishing at 2-under 142.

Ferrin scattered three birdies and two bogeys over his opening nine of the final round, but carded a pair of bogeys during his inward nine to post a final-round 73.

Perham senior Marcus Belka posted the low round of the tournament Wednesday, helped by three birdies during his front nine to card a final-round 70 and place third at 145.
