BLUFFTON, S.C. – Minnesotan Ben Sigel carded a 2-over par 74 Monday to open the 2015 U.S. Junior Amateur at Colleton River Plantation Club.

Sigel, Deephaven, Minn., played a superb front nine as he rolled in birdie chances at the sixth and eighth holes to make the turn at 2-under par.

Adding another birdie at the par-4 10th hole Sigel would move to 3-under and into a tie for third place, but he would struggle late with a bogey at the 12th and finished the opening round with a pair of bogeys and a double-bogey on the final hole to card a 74.

Joey Park, Lake Elmo, Minn., carded four bogeys over the opening nine holes Monday to turn at 4-over par and would card another four bogeys on the back to finish the first round tied for 122nd at 8-over par 80.

Sigel and Park earned spots in the championship after qualifying at Owatonna Country Club on June 25th.

Viktor Hovland and Won Jun Lee share the early lead after the opening round Monday as both golfers carded 4-under par 68

The second round of the 2015 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship gets underway Tuesday with tee times beginning at 6 a.m. at Colleton River Plantation Club.
