FARIBAULT, Minn. – Building on her lead from Monday’s opening round at Legacy Golf, two-time defending champion Kathryn VanArragon carded one birdie on each of her nines Tuesday, shooting a final-round 70 claim a seven-stroke victory at the 48th Minnesota Girls’ Junior PGA Championship.

Since the championship began in 1976, no other player has collected more than two victories until VanArragon's third consecutive win at the event Tuesday.

Posting a 4-under 68 to open the tournament Monday, VanArragon carried a two-stroke lead into Tuesday’s final round of play.

Beginning her round with consecutive pars, VanArragon converted her birdie opportunity at the par-4 sixth and would turn in 5-under for the championship.

She capitalized on her birdie chance at the 117-yard par-3 13th to reach 6-under, and would finish the day with a bogey-free 70 to earn medalist honors at 6-under 138, seven strokes ahead of Abigail Labrador and Ava Hanneman.

Labrador began the tournament with a 1-over 73 Monday, and played her opening nine at even par.

Identical to her front nine, Labrador carded one birdie against one bogey over her final nine to card a final-round 72 to share second.

Hanneman carded one of three rounds the course surrendered under par this week during the opening round Monday.

Sitting two shots back, Hanneman turned in 1-over before playing her first eight holes of the back in 1-under.

A double-bogey at the 36th hole dropped Hanneman to 1-over for the championship to finish tied for second.

Nicole Reineke followed her opening-round 72 with a 4-over 76 Tuesday to finish in fourth place, while North Dakotan Avery Bartels placed fifth at 5-over 149.
